2018 So Far

2018 so far has started out well. I've been really productive, both at work and at home. I've read a lot, am working on streamlining my life and being more intentional with my time.

In doing this, I've been focusing a lot on what my priorities for this year are. I want to read a substantial (for me at least) amount, and I want to continuing making my life a little better each day.

So, so far I've finished reading 4 books. I had already gotten a lot through the first book (Canto Bight) before the year started, so that was a bit of a handicap. Then I read Cobalt Squadron and Star Wars: Forces of Destiny: The Leia Chronicles (the latter of which is a children's book, so that was a very quick read). Finally, I read The Graveyard Book. Now, I'm working my way through The Handmaid's Tale, which I hope to finish before Iron Gold comes out on the 16th. Reading is clearly a priority.

I've also been decluttering the media room. I cleaned out the closet in there, so it is a lot more organized. I'm working on hopefully making a NAS for file storage, but that is a more long term project.

I've also been staying on top of the minor chores around the house, with the assistance of my amazing wife. It's easier to stay on top of things than to let them build up and catch up at the end of everything.

To be more focused, I've cut back pretty substantially on playing Hearthstone. While it is still enjoyable, the game feels like a time vortex. I could sit down for what I planned to be a quick game, and not stop until well after I wanted to be asleep without meaning to.

These are my goals for this year, to be more intentional with my time, and hopefully have each day make my life just that little bit better. So far it's working. Let's see if I can keep it up!
